§ 191.103. Wood trusses.

    Requirements. Wood trusses shall be manufactured only by a manufacturer approved by the Board of Building Appeals, and shall conform to the following requirements:

    1.

    Each installation shall be designed and certified by a registered professional engineer.

    2.

    Each truss shall be labeled in the middle third of the bottom chord with a registered stamp denoting the following:

    a.

    Manufacturer;

    b.

    Type or manufacturer of truss plates; and

    c.

    Total load of design.

    B.

    Corrections. When defects or modification require alteration of original design, the method of correction shall be certified with calculation by a registered professional engineer.

    C.

    Manufacturer Requirements. Manufacturers shall supply calculations and requirements for temporary and permanent lateral bracing on each job to the building inspection division and the job site.

    D.

    Anchor Requirements. Trusses shall be anchored to the top plate of a wall with approved truss anchors.
