§ 193.302. Gutters and downspouts.

  • A.

    Connections. Every building or structure, except for detached garages and/or residential storage structures that are twenty-four feet by twenty-four feet or less in size, shall at all times have eave or cornice gutters and downspouts of approved materials, otherwise approved for sanitary or storm sewers for conducting all water to an underground drain which connects to one of the following; in order of preference:

    1.

    Public storm sewer;

    2.

    Combination sewer;

    3.

    Street gutter or ditch;

    4.

    Natural drainage way (stream or river); or

    5.

    Leach wells sized for one cubic foot of washed gravel per fifteen square feet of roof area, unless designed by a registered professional engineer.

    This requirement shall not apply to minor accessory buildings when the water does not damage the foundations of any building or structure.

    B.

    Roof Water. In no case shall the roof water be permitted to cross a public sidewalk above ground.

    C.

    Required Slope. All drains shall be laid at a minimum slope of one inch in fifteen feet and on a straight and true grade.
