  § 50.22. Sewer service charges.

  • The use charge for any lot, parcel of land, building, or premises having any connection with the city sanitary sewerage system and discharging sewage, industrial waste waters, or any other liquids into the sewerage system shall be based upon the quantity of water used thereon or therein as the same is estimated or measured by the Director of Public Service, by meters there in use, and there shall be charged per month as determined by the Director of Public Service, on at least an annual basis. Such charges shall be as follows:

    The Billing Charge per month for each customer shall be $3.75, except that the Billing Charge per month for master meter customers shall be $60.78.

    The 2014 sewer service charges will be effective February 1, 2014. The 2015 sewer service charges will be effective January 1, 2015.

    The Director of Public Service is authorized to implement a discount program for low income Akron residential customers which will be effective January 1, 2015. The program will provide that there will be no increase from 2014 sewer service charges in 2015 to the low income Akron residential customers who have been determined to be eligible for the program.

    The HEAP rate represents a 50% discount in the sewer service charge increases authorized in this section to Akron residential customers who have been determined by the State of Ohio to be eligible for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP).
