§ 96.10. Composition.

There is established a Park and Recreation Board consisting of eight or more persons, seven or more of whom shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of Council. One member of such Board shall be a member of the Board of Education or the Superintendent of the Akron Public Schools or their designee, one member shall be the Chairperson of the Parks and Recreation Committee of Council, and five or more shall be chosen at large from the community, at least one of whom shall have qualifications and evidenced interest in parks and at least one of whom shall have qualifications and evidenced interest in recreation. The terms shall be for five years or until their successors are appointed and qualified. The first Board members appointed hereunder shall be appointed for such terms so that the term of at least one member shall expire annually. Members shall serve without compensation. The Planning Engineer shall be an ex officio member of such Board.
