Article 2. Park and Recreation Board |
§ 96.11. Duties.
It shall be the duty and purpose of the Park and Recreation Board to offer consultation and advice to the Recreation Division of the city. It shall promote public education in the field of recreation and parks, enjoyment regarding the value of its functions and requirements and stimulate the residents generally in recreation and parks. It shall assist in the planning and development of park and recreation areas in the city. It shall approach and develop an understanding for the use of schools and school grounds as recreational centers in the city. It shall study and analyze the programs of recreation and park development in the City and make its recommendations accordingly. It shall lend its best efforts in cooperation with the Planning Commission and other public agencies towards the planning and distribution of parks and recreation centers, including the development and adjustment of existing facilities. It shall submit to Council on or before March 1 of each calendar year its recommendations for the ensuing year and the monetary requirements to carry out such program. However, at all times the work of the Board shall be limited to budgetary and appropriation measures.
